Please note: No cover letters are required when applying for Pathology Training programs.

You will be able to make changes to your application until the closing date for applications (dates shown above). This includes adding and removing program preferences. After the closing date you will be able to re–arrange the order of your preferences only until the closing date for hospitals to provide their rankings.

All rankings are kept strictly confidential.

You will be able to check the status of your application throughout the process by logging onto the site. Hospitals will indicate when your application has been received and whether an interview will be required. They will then make contact with you to set up a time for interview.

Once SA IMET has received the rankings from the hospitals the data will be entered into the Computer Matching Program along with candidate rankings and the program will then run a match which allows for the highest possible preference available for the candidate.

Once the results have been made available the hospitals will make further contact with the candidate to discuss formal contracts. Please do not contact SA IMET for contract information.

Please note: Only one match will be offered per candidate and swapping is generally not allowed. Participation in the Matching Service signifies that both candidates and hospitals agree to abide by the Matching results. Candidates must accept the position to which they have been matched unless they obtain a written release from the hospitals concerned. Hospitals cannot accept a candidate who has been matched to another hospital in the Matching Service unless that candidate has a written release from the hospital concerned.
